This article looks at the best night light bulbs.
Night light bulbs are used at night in hallways, bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchens to provide low level lighting. Generally they come with the smaller E12 base (Edison screw 1/2 inch base). Also, they provide between 4 and 7 watt of equivalent power. While a lot of the night light bulbs available are the older style incandescent bulbs we have also included some more efficient highly rated LEDs.
Our selections are based on a number of criteria:
- Online reviews from a number of light bulb retailers
- Price, we are always looking for the best value
- Energy Star certified, whether the bulbs has met strict energy efficiency criteria set by the EPA
- Lifetime and length of warranty, as these provide a measure of quality
- Dimmable, having a bulb that can be used with a dimmer switch makes it more versatile
GE Specialty LED 7W
Not only have GE been in business since 1892 they are also the most popular brand here in the U.S. Furthermore they produce a huge range of different bulbs including these 7W night light bulbs from their specialty range. Firstly we like these bulbs because they are super-low, power using only 1.5 watts to provide a very reasonable 40 lumens. Secondly at $2.75 a bulb they are reasonable priced for a bulb that is rated to last 15,000 hours and comes with a 5 year warranty. However, it should be noted that these bulbs do not work with dimmers.

Feit Electric 4W Night Light
Feit are a family owned and operated company based in Los Angeles, California. Moreover, they claim to have an inventory of 100,000,000 bulbs in their automated distribution center. Not only are these bulbs a very reasonable $1 per bulb but also they have a 3000 hour rating which is good for an incandescent bulb. Also, they produce a very low warm light.

After GE, Sylvania is the next most popular brand of light bulbs in the United States. Not only do these frosted, incandescent bulbs have excellent on-line ratings they also come in at around $1 a bulb. Moreover, they have a good lifetime rating at 3000 hours. Finally they are dimmable and provide a very low warm white light.

Although Kingman is not a brand we know much about here at Light Bulb AtoZ they have excellent ratings on Amazon. Given that these bulbs come in at 75c a bulb they seem a reasonable option if you are looking for a low wattage incandescent bulb.

Philips are the number one supplier of light bulbs in Europe and are known for their reliable if somewhat expensive bulbs. As an illustration these bulbs have an excellent lifetime for an incandescent bulb at 3000 hours, but cost $2.25 a bulb. Equally they have excellent on-line ratings.

High Wattage – GE Specialty LED 40W
Finally on our list is this this tube shaped (T10) bulb from GE. As can be seen the bulb has an attractive vintage style LED filament. Both the lifetime rating of 15,000 hours and the 5 year warranty are great. Despite the high price of around $7.50 we think that these bulbs are a good option if you are looking for a larger, slightly higher wattage bulb.
