7 Of The Best Oversize Light Bulbs
Introduction
This article is about the best oversize bulbs. Before we begin with the reviews let me tell you how I have defined oversized. Basically, anything bigger than a G30 globe size bulb. Thus, anything with a diameter greater than 1.25 inches. By the same token anything longer than 1.875 inches tall.
Given these points, the bulbs reviewed fall into 5 groups. That is: long tube shaped bulbs, large globe, large bulged, non-decorative and other.
Note that all the bulbs in this list come with the medium E26 base.
In this case our selections are based on a number of criteria:
- Online reviews from a number of light bulb retailers
- Price, we are always looking for the best value
- Energy Star qualified, whether the bulbs has met strict energy efficiency criteria set by the EPA
- Lifetime and length of warranty, as these provide a measure of quality

Best Oversize Bulbs – Tube – Feit T10 Dimmable
Feit are a family owned and operated company based in Los Angeles, California. According to their website they keep a stock of over 100,000,000 bulbs. So as to reduce order waiting time.
Firstly, this tube shaped bulb comes with a beautiful spiral vintage style filament. Secondly it provides a warm yellow light for a cozy feeling. Thus it is perfect for a statement setting in a relaxed area of your home. Additionally it comes with a long lifetime and reasonable warranty. Overall an excellent bulb for the price.

Tube – FLSNT LED Oversized Edison Bulb
FLSNT is not a make we have heard of before here at Light Bulb A to Z. However, this bulb comes with excellent online reviews so we have included it in our list. In brief, it is a tube shaped bulb with amber glass. With a diameter of 3.15 inches and a length of 13.39 inches. So quite a big bulb. In our opinion the styling is excellent making this a statement piece. For that reason you need to place it where it is visible. Possibly without a shade. Overall this is a pretty expensive bulb, even with the 15,000 lifetime.

Best Oversize Bulbs – Bulged – Bulbrite Amber Light BT56
Firstly a little something about the manufacturers. Bulbrite have been in business since the 1960s and operate out of Moonachie, New Jersey. They employ around 60 people in the U.S.
This is one of their bulged shape bulbs. It measures 16.16 inches tall and 7.08 inches across. We love the long spiral vintage style filament that runs the full length of the bulb. Obviously this is a statement bulb designed to be seen. Something that is also reflected in the price. Its lifetime rating is good at 15,000 hours and there is a generous 5 year warranty.

Best Oversize Bulbs – Globe – GE Amber Finish G40 Incandescent
Not only have GE been in business since 1892 they are also the most popular brand here in the United States. They produce a very wide range of light bulbs. So, it is no surprise to find a couple of their bulbs on this list.
This first once is a oversize globe with a 5 inch diameter. Firstly, a major point to note. This is an old-style incandescent bulb. Meaning it has a lifetime of only 1,500 hours. An LED version would last ten times as long. Moreover it is not particularly cheap at $10. However, these bulbs are all about styling and looks. And certainly this bulb looks great. So, if it fits in with your lighting needs and you can live with the shorter lifetime then this is the bulb for you.

Globe – GE Vintage G40 LED
As I have noted GE make a lot of different light bulbs. For that reason we can offer you the LED version of the incandescent bulb we have just reviewed. To emphasize the difference between these bulbs. The incandescent has a lifetime of 1,500 hours. By comparison this LED is rates for 15,000 hours. That is, this bulb will last 10 times as long. And the price is only $5 more.
As for the bulb itself. Firstly, it comes with a very attractive spiral filament. Secondly, it produces a warm candle light glow using very little power. In sum, a very good looking bulb with a long lifetime at a reasonable prices. What’s not to like?

Best Oversize Bulbs – Non-decorative – Orein High Lumen LED
Sometimes we are looking for function over form. As such, we have included this workaday light bulb from Orein in our list. The bulb provided a very bright and wide-spread light. Ideal for workshops, garage lighting, backyards and patios. In fact this bulb provides 14 times as much light as the GE 40 watt incandescent we reviewed earlier. That’s a lot of light. And all for $15. Finally, the bulb is 7.2 inches tall by 4.65 inches wide, and has a lifetime of 25,000 hours.

Best Oversize Bulbs – Out There – OMED Lighting Oversized Edison LED
Last, but by no means least, comes the OMED oversized Edison LED. I still don’t completely know what to think about it. So let’s begin with a few key points. Firstly, and this is a big point, the bulb is irregularly shaped. As shown above it has ridges and grooves in the glass bulb. Secondly it is huge. Measuring 11.4 inches tall by 6.5 inches wide. That is the same height as an iPad pro. Finally it costs $32 for a single bulb. Clearly this is a statement bulb. Good for a pendant or used as a hanging light. And if you like its looks then it will definitely make a statement.
